Chinese Taipei Bags One Silver and Two Bronze in Asian Games Karate Competitions

Chinese Taipei’s martial artists bagged one silver and two bronze medals during yesterday’s karate competitions at the Asian Games in Guangzhou, China. Huang Yu-chi won a silver after being defeated 5-0 by her Japanese opponent Rika Usami in the finals of the women’s karate individual kata. In the men’s under-55kg competition, Hsieh Cheng-kang won the bronze medal while Chen Yen-hui picked up the bronze in the women’s under-50kg competition.
In the women’s inline skating, Pan Yi-chin settled for the bronze in the 10,000 meter points plus elimination event, while Sung Chia-chun captured the bronze medal in the men’s individual archery competition.
Winning a haul of one silver and four bronze medals yesterday, the Chinese Taipei team is ranked 5th on the medals table at the 2010 Asian Games, with a total of 12 gold, 12 silver, and 33 bronze medals.
The Chinese Taipei team have their eyes set on winning more medals in karate and artistic roller skating. The Chinese Taipei women’s softball team, which was undefeated in the preliminary matches at the Games, will go up against Japan today for the championship.
