National Cultural Association Renamed
Source: Wanted Daily
December 31, 2010
The National Cultural Association yesterday, in a membership assembly, adopted an amendment to its charter to change its title to the Chinese Cultural Association. Liu Chao-shiuan, senior Presidential advisor and Chairman of the National Cultural Association, stressed that the decision was made out of consideration of factors involving historical legacy and the need for future development.
The Chinese Cultural Renaissance Movement Commission was established in 1967, as Chinese culture was systematically destroyed during the Cultural Revolution on the Mainland. The DPP administration then changed the commission’s name to the National Cultural Association. Now that the KMT has returned to power, its name has been changed again to emphasize the nation’s Chinese heritage.
