Four Taiwan Students Win Gold Medals at Biology Olympiad

The 2016 International Biology Olympiad (IBO) was held in Hanoi, Vietnam from July 17 to July 23. Among the 259 candidates from 68 countries, all four students representing Taiwan won gold medals. Students from Mainland China and Singapore also received four gold medals. This is the fifth time Taiwan students all won gold medals.
According to the Education Ministry, Taiwan students have been participating in the IBO since 1999. Every year, Taiwan students have shone at the IBO. As of 2015, Taiwan delegations have received 46 gold, 19 silver, and three bronze medals. Taiwan’s medal haul is among the top three. All of the students representing Taiwan won gold medals in 2008, 2010, 2011, and 2014. Taiwan’s medal haul ranked in first place in 2001 and 2014.
