 You Ying-lung: Forward-looking Plan to Be Last Straw Crushing Tsai

On June 26, the Taiwanese Public Opinion Foundation (台灣民意基金會), a pro-Green organization, released its latest opinion poll results, indicating that 33.1% of the respondents expressed satisfaction with how President Tsai was leading the country, while 49.6% expressed dissatisfaction. President Tsai’s prestige has reached a historic low. Moreover, the poll shows that as for Tsai’s performance on cross-Strait relations, her dissatisfaction rating rose to 58 % while satisfaction rating fell to just 35%, the lowest record since Tsai assumed office.

You Ying-lung (游盈隆), chairman of the Taiwanese Public Opinion Foundation, stated that “Tsai’s low prestige is shown in her 33.1% approval rating. If Tsai should railroad at this time the passage of the Forward-looking Infrastructure Plan Bill in the Legislature, it would become the last straw crushing Tsai’s prestige.” “Public opinion and political consequences are frightening,” You Ying-lung stated, asking whether President Tsai could endure such pressure.
