Blue Camp Criticizes TJC for Glossing over Investigation Report on “Dongchang” Incident

In a press conference on September 21, the Transformational Justice Commission (TJC) made public its investigation report on the “Dongchang” incident created by Chang Tien-chin (張天欽), who was compelled to resign as TJC vice chairman. (Dongchang is a Ming Dynasty secret police organization equivalent to the Gestapo.) The TJC determined in the report that the internal meeting on August 24 chaired by Chang was not an official meeting, but it admitted at the same time that some TJC staffers were no longer fit to continue the work of transformational justice owing to their seriously inappropriate words and deeds in that meeting. Chang Tien-chin, Hsiao Chi-nan (蕭吉男), a TJC research fellow, as well as Wu Pei-jung (吳佩蓉) and Chang Shih-yueh (張世岳), both TJC associate research fellows, were all compelled to resign, the TJC indicated.
The KMT legislative caucus stated that it was unacceptable that the investigation report was a mere one and half pages, lambasting the TJC for glossing over the investigation of the incident. The KMT caucus advocated that an impartial third party be involved in the investigation, and that the TJC’s operations be suspended before the investigation was completed.
