Lai Ching-te (賴清德) would step down as Premier of the Executive Yuan (Cabinet) today, with former Premier Su Tseng-chang (蘇貞昌) set to take over as the next premier. KMT legislator Lai Shyh-bao (賴士葆) criticized such a move yesterday, stating that “an ‘Electoral Losers Alliance’, including Su, Chen Chi-mai (陳其邁), and Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍), who all suffered defeat at the local elections, are set to take up key positions. This is a ‘miracle’ of another kind in Taiwan’s democracy – the more votes you lose, the more important your post. What kind of political ethics is this?”
KMT spokesperson Ouyang Long (歐陽龍) stated “since Su is a former Premier, he should have more executive experience. The KMT hopes that the new Cabinet would focus on spurring the economy and bringing prosperity to the people.”
