The Formosa Alliance (喜樂島聯盟), a pro-Taiwan independence group led by Kuo Pei-hung (郭倍宏), a former chairman of Formosa TV, has announced that it would officially form a political party tomorrow, adding that with regard to the 2020 general elections, the Formosa Alliance party is slated to field over 10 candidates for seats of district legislators and at-large-legislators, possibly having some impact on the DPP.
Liu Ching-wen (劉敬文), a member of the Preparatory Committee for the Formosa Alliance Party, has stated that the establishment of the party mainly reflected the “dissatisfaction with Tsai Ing-wen’s governance,” adding that pro-Taiwan independence supporters have expressed complaints about the DPP government’s transformational justice and judicial reforms, saying they were not forceful enough.
Liu went on to say that from the DPP’s point of view, the Formosa Alliance may be regarded as a “splittist force,” explaining that since the “DPP has already turned Blue,” the establishment of the party aimed to get back the DPP’s original spirit.
