 HK Media: How Long Will DPP Take Advantage of Hong Kong’s Plight?

Keith Fong (方仲賢), President of the Hong Kong Baptist University Students’ Union, recently criticized the Tsai government, which refused to enact a Refugee Act, for using Hong Kong people’s blood to gain Taiwan people’s votes. After such remarks elicited controversies, he issued an apology yesterday, saying that he had always been grateful for people in Taiwan who cared about Hong Kong.

Nevertheless, HK01, a Hong Kong news outlet, still posted an article, questioning “how long the DPP will take advantage of Hong Kong’s plight”.

Foreign Minister Joseph Wu (吳釗燮) stated, “Taiwan’s government has no intention to interfere in Hong Kong’s internal affairs, but if Beijing steps up the suppression, Taiwan will help Hong Kong people forced to leave their homes.”

Hong Kong media HK01 commented, “Taiwan has its own laws, which must be respected; however, the DPP government should not verbally support Hong Kong for its own electoral interests, while setting up a lot of limitations in responding to Hong Kong people’s needs.
