Wang Ji-ping (王際平), leader of the North Union Gang, established RJ Premium Co., Ltd. in 2017, and asked former Taitung City Mayor Chen Chien-ko (陳建閣) to be principal of the company. In addition, entertainer Wu Yong-feng (吳勇峰) hired and trained Taiwanese drama actor Rand Chen (成潤) and hot night club hostesses as sales assistants to help Wang attract investors in “real estate” in Thailand. Together, they took illegal investments of over NT$630 million. Yesterday, the Taipei District Prosecutors Office (TDPO) indicted twelve people for violating the Banking Act and other offences.
RJ Premium claimed that it planned to develop a serviced condominium in Thailand. Although it had not acquired ownership of the land for the development project, it swindled investors into the scam.
According to TDPO’s investigation, Wang pocketed over RMB¥10 million in illegal investment payments to build a shopping mall on the Mainland. He admitted that he violated the Banking Act, but denied the fraud charges.
